My sister and I have been writing half novels for years. We grew up devouring books and dreaming of publishing our own. And this year I made the resolution to actually finish the first draft of one of my wanna-be novels.
Enter NaNoWriMo.
Now that we’re all grown up my sister and I have challenged each other to actively put our dreams into our fingertips and make them become a reality. Because, really, the first step in publishing a novel is to sit down and write it. (So says every single author I’ve asked annoying fan-girl questions of.)
So now it’s time to buckle down, and just freaking write it.
What is NanoWriMo?
“National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30.” [nanowrimo.org]
What to expect from me for the month of November
I’m cutting back a bit on posting here and social media for the month, so I can spend more time focused on writing this novel I’m determined to get my first draft done this month and this challenge is the best way to get my bum into gear.
So that means I’ll be sticking to this schedule:
Monday: NaNoWriMo Day
This day will be home to updates on my progress and excerpts from my writing. It will also house links to articles I find about writing tips and advice.
Tuesday: Horror Haikuesday
This will continue on as it has been 🙂 Two pieces of art from me for one poem by Patrick Rahall, and one for the reader submitted 2 sentence story or horror haiku.
Wednesday: How was it #HorrorMade?
A making-of video for a piece of art. It will either be mine or some other (often more talented) Artist making horror speed paintings
Thursday: Book Thursday
All about books!
- Book reviews
- author guest posts
- book spotlights
Friday: Guest post or bust
Friday is about opening up the digital airwaves to you guys. So it will either be someone else sharing their thoughts on horror, or a quiet day for me.
Once December Rolls around
I’ll be right back on top of things, with Creature Codex entries, Disturbing Destinations, Top 10 Lists of Horror, Movie and Comic reviews. Until then…
Wish me luck!
Oh! And if you’re joining me on this crazy adventure let’s be writing buddies:I’m Jeanette Andromeda on NaNoWriMo.org
I am in your cheering section!
