All this week my pattern has been, wake up, write a blog post, and then go down to the art gallery to sculpt. I’m working on 4′ tall frog playing a guitar, btw. Noting really scary about it. Unless you have a phobia of frogs… or foam…

But the process of sculpting is slow and tedious and the only thing that gets me to stay focused for the hours it took to finish this piece was listening to podcasts. And there was one episode this week that I wanted to share because it made me squirm, I got me to ask some uncomfortable questions about my own character and it made it time fly by. (ps. I’ve added photos of my sculpture project to the bottom of this post)

Today’s Horror Podcast Spotlight is

The No Sleep Podcast

This is one of the horror story podcasts on my top 10 list and this particular episode did not let me down.

Episode 3 of season 7 has 6 stories about “motherly memories, miserable minors, and medical malfeasance.”

Out of the collection there were 3 that really stood out to me.

The Disturbing Possibilities

Backwater Lullaby written by Kerry H. and performed by Kyle Akers is a tale about a mother who was always there for her son when he’d wake up in the middle of the night from nightmares. But the question the story leaves you with is one that, days later, you’ll find yourself mulling over and trying to answer. I have my theories, so after you listen to the episode hit me up, let’s talk about it.

Get out of my ear! T.T

A Very Bad Place to Hide written by Max Aaron and performed by Jesse Cornett is the exact reason why I felt the need to talk about this podcast today. The dread that built up before the main trauma occurred was chilling. And when you listen to this episode, I highly recommend doing so with earbuds on the way I did. When the story came on my hands were covered in glue so even though I wanted so badly to take off my headphones and listen to the story with a little more air between us– I couldn’t and it made the experience so much better/disturbing.

Questioning my own Morality

The third story out of the batch that I continue to find filtering through my mind is The Zoo for Bad People written by Rona Vaselaar and performed by Dan Zappulla & Erika Sanderson & Nikolle Doolin. Listen to this story and then answer this question: What would you do if you were in the main character’s position?

I like to think I would have cracked and ended up in the zoo myself … but who knows? Fear is a powerful thing.

*Applause*

So, mad props to the folks of The No Sleep Podcast for rocking this week’s episode, hardcore. If you’d like to listen you can find Season 7 Episode 3 right here.
