What if the person you loved most was horrifically murdered? And what if, you could actually find a way to go back in time to save them? Those are the thoughts guiding me through today’s book review.
Jeff Lane reached out to me through Twitter forever and a day ago to review his book. As has been the theme for the last few reviews, I’ve finally made it to his story! And it was so worth adding to the over-flowing horror bookshelf.

Book Description:Barry Griffith doesn’t know it yet, but tonight is the night fate has chosen to be the night of his death… his murder. At a gas station in the middle of nowhere, late at night, his wife Jenny appears… no car… no coat and looking older than when he saw her last. That’s because this is not the woman he received a good-bye kiss from this morning. This woman has been a widow for over four years and has made an impossible journey back in time to try to stop her husband’s murder. Will they be able to escape the killers or does fate only have one plan… one possible outcome… ONE WAY? [amazon.com]
This is a love story that stretches through time, death, and meets where Barry (our leading man) should be dying at the hands of some vicious serial killers. Ok, I probably shouldn’t start my calling it a love story. I know there are a lot of us in the horror audience that would turn their noses up at a romance novel. (Myself included) But don’t worry, it’s not a bodice ripper in the traditional sense of the term. Although clothing does get ripped up… but there a lot more blood and malicious intent involved here
Tangent achievement unlocked!
Anyway. Even though this is not a romance novel love and the connection between Barry and his wife, Jenny is a huge motivating factor in this book. It is because of her love and her grief that she is able to travel back in time to try and save him. But she only arrives in time to help protect him, not to entirely steer him out of harm’s way.
The survival horror experience that follows is gripping. You have no idea if their efforts will be successful because the killers are just as developed as the victims in this book. There was a point, near the end of the story where I was seriously worried about the outcome of this book. I won’t elaborate on that though. Spoilers.
I will say that from the very get-go this book has an addictive pacing that made it impossible to set down.
5 out of 5 blood spattered stars – fans of sci-fi and horror alike will really love this book.
