Immortal Alexander here. For those of you not in the know Ms. Andromeda and I made a horror web series a few years ago. We have four episodes up for your viewing pleasure and have four more episodes that we are going to release some time this year. To renew a little interest in the project I shot a music video for the show with the band Farewood who did our theme song.
You can watch the full series and the music video by clicking HERE.
I did the lighting, filming, and editing for the music video. I incorporated some scenes from the show along with what I shot with the band. I also shot a time laps of the sun setting for the opening shot. I wanted to create some creepy and other worldly shots that brought out the fantasy aspect of the show.
I shot the video with my canon 5D MK II using three different lenses for varied effects. The first lens I used was my Rokinon 35mm F1.4 lens (R.I.P. It broke during one of my latest photo adventures). That’s what I used for the time laps and all of the wide shots. For close-ups I used two different lenses. I used my Sigma 50mm macro lens for ultra close-ups.
For the rest of the close-ups I used my Lens Baby Sweet 35mm tilt shift lens. A tilt shift lens ads a out of focus ring around your shots with only the dead center of the image being in focus. This adds a other worldly quality that I absolutely love! The lens can literally tilt to change where you want the image to be sharp. The less light you let into the lens the deeper the focus. The more light you let into the lens the more shallow the focus the more extreme the effect.
I don’t get a lot of chances to just play with creative shots these days as I am mostly focused on writing, but it’s great to have the freedom to do so once in a while. I’ll leave you with a bunch of other shots, and behind the scenes set-ups. I used zero color correction in my editing. What you see is how I shot and lit it the day it was done. Enjoy!
